My current research focuses on the structure, dynamics, energies, and function of proteins and DNA. A key goal is to understand how proteins bind and recognize DNA so we can better understand function and unlock new concepts for medicine and basic science.

My PhD advisers are Professor Carlos Simmerling from the Department of Chemistry and Professor Miguel Garcia-Diaz from the Department of Pharmacological Sciences.

Simmerling is a leader in Computational Structural Biology and Garcia-Diaz is the world expert on mitochondrial transcription factors, specifically MTERF1 and MTERF4.
